Job Summary
Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in 6th-grade English Language Arts, explicitly teaching the drafting, revising, and editing processes to cultivate strong foundational writing skills. Guide students through various writing genres while employing modern, evidence-based strategies to inspire a passion for reading, textual analysis, and literary engagement. Collaborate flexibly with co-teachers, special education staff, and ELL specialists to scaffold instruction and accommodate diverse learning profiles, while partnering with interdisciplinary team members to align curriculum and analyze student data. Maintain strict punctuality and daily attendance to ensure instructional continuity and safe supervision within a supportive, high-expectation learning environment.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Massachusetts DESE License in English (5–12) or Humanities (5–8)
- Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement
- Bachelor's degree
- Successful completion of a Massachusetts CORI and fingerprint-based national criminal background check
- Clear talking and active hearing in person and by telephone
- Using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls
- Close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
Desired Qualifications
- 1–5 years of middle school teaching experience
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for middle school students and early adolescent development
- Proficiency in teaching diverse writing genres and the multi-step drafting process
