Job Summary
Plan, organize, and present instruction for 8th-grade students while managing instructional time, student behavior, and classroom transitions. Deliver lessons with clear objectives, monitor student performance through circulation and questioning, and provide feedback on both in-class and out-of-class work. Coordinate teacher assistants, maintain accurate performance records, and align instructional plans with system-wide curricular goals. Treat all students equitably and interact effectively with parents and community members. Adhere to established laws, policies, and professional development plans.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in education or in a related area that will qualify for licensure as a teacher by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction
- Must be able to use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers, typewriters, calculators, pencils, scissors, and equipment for children with special needs
- Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
- Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural, or composite characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things
- Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information
- Includes receiving instructions, assignments and/or directions from superiors
- Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, handbooks, forms, lists, etc
- Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, simple reports, forms, instructional materials, etc, using prescribed format
- Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Requires the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form
- Requires the ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Requires the ability to record and deliver information

- Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical or professional languages including medical, legal and counseling terminology

- Must be able to communicate via telephone
