Job Summary
Khan Academy is seeking an experienced and versatile Elementary ELA Content Creator on a fixed-term 24-month Assessments team. You will contribute to the development of new, innovative K-12 assessments for grades 3-5, ensure alignment with state standards and item development best practices, collaborate with product/design/engineering, and innovate with AI-enabled item types to deliver engaging assessment experiences for learners. The role emphasizes cross-functional teamwork, content creation, and a focus on positive assessment experiences within a remote-first, nonprofit education context. Compensation includes a US salary band of $77,600–$94,090 (and CAD for Canada in related postings), with generous benefits and 401(k) matching.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years classroom experience teaching elementary school ELA
- Experience in grades 3-5 ELA assessment development
- Deep pedagogical expertise and expertise in state and national standards
- A focus on assessment as a positive experience integrated with learning
- Experience with collaborative work on time-sensitive projects
- Interest in using new AI tools as assistants in content creation
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills
- Proven cross-cultural competency skills demonstrating inclusion and belonging throughout the organization
- Growth mindset and bias to action
- Project management skills (e.g. Google Docs and spreadsheets) and willingness to learn new tools
- Passion for education and willingness to contribute to Khan Academy mission
