Job Summary
Assistant Manager at El Pollo Loco: support the General Manager in daily restaurant operations, oversee shifts, hire/onboard/train and develop team members, coach performance, uphold food safety/compliance standards, manage inventory and costs, ensure customer service excellence, and act as person in charge when GM is absent. Key duties include staffing deployment, opening/closing procedures, safety checks, adherence to company standards, handling daily sales and cash processes, and resolving customer issues in a fast-paced environment. Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, ServSafe/cash handling proficiency, POS systems, and ability to work flexible hours are required. Must have 1–2 years supervisory experience and a high school diploma or equivalent; college coursework preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of restaurant or retail supervisory experience
- ServSafe certification required (or must obtain within required timeframe)
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework preferred
- Proficiency with POS systems, cash handling, smart safe operation, and basic computer skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Reliable transportation and willingness to work at nearby locations as needed
