Job Summary
The Associate Conductor will provide instruction and guidance to program participants in the Intergenerational Music Program ensemble, lead rehearsals for musicians of all ages, collaborate with staff to plan and execute the season’s rehearsals, and help ensure attendance, background checks, and program goals are met, culminating in at least one performance per semester. The role requires strong musicianship, ensemble leadership, collaboration with program staff, and the ability to work with a diverse community; bilingual abilities (Spanish/Korean) are a plus, and a CA background check is required.
Required Qualifications
- Four-year undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required; postgraduate degree or equivalent experience a plus
- Demonstrated excellent musicianship and artistry
- Experience giving musical instruction; communal setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of repertoire, curriculum, and pedagogy related to your instrument(s)
- Experience working with adults from diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Bilingual is a plus (Spanish/Korean)
- Must pass CA Background Check
