Job Summary
Plan and implement age-appropriate activities to foster social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth for infants and toddlers. Conduct daily health checks, environmental safety inspections, and emergency drills while maintaining a secure, culturally inclusive classroom. Develop weekly lesson plans and individualized routines that integrate parental goals and support special needs. Facilitate parent education meetings, conferences, and home visits to strengthen family engagement. Supervise volunteers and custodial staff while managing program supplies and food invoices. Maintain bilingual communication with families and document child progress through ongoing observations.
Required Qualifications
- AA degree in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development
- currently attending courses towards a BA degree
- California Children's Center Permit or a California Child Development Teacher Permit from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing
- Minimum of two (2) years paid experience working with children 0-5
- Experience working with Infant/toddlers
- Bilingual (English-Spanish)
- Ability to speak, read and write English well enough to understand and be understood by others
- Ability to include parental input into goals for a child's development
- Ability to relate to diverse groups of people including low-income families
- Sensitive to the needs of others
- Maintain confidentiality
- Sincere commitment to providing services to children and the community
- Ability to assess and respond quickly to varied situations
- Must possess own vehicle
- current and valid California Driver's License
- at minimum, general liability automobile insurance
- LiveScan fingerprint clearance
- Mandatory pediatric first aid and CPR certificate
- Regular attendance, Monday thru Friday
- Must provide updated educational transcripts as required
- Must provide vaccination records for influenza, pertussis and measles
- Must pass a pre-employment Health Screening, including passing a physical examination
- verification of a T.B. clearance
- Drug screening
- Health Screening and T.B. clearance must be issued within six (6) months of employment
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
