Job Summary
Develop plans to ensure daily activities provide for the safety of each child using indoor and outdoor facilities, conducting daily inspections to remove hazardous debris and unsafe equipment. Provide continuous supervision of all children's activities while establishing safety rules and implementing age-appropriate routines that foster social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. Plan and implement weekly lesson plans and activities addressing individual needs, special needs, and cultural backgrounds, including bilingual communication in English and Spanish. Conduct daily health checks, assist children during meals to demonstrate hygiene, and maintain an orderly, inviting environment. Establish productive relationships with parents by conducting conferences, home visits, and parent education meetings to reinforce their role as primary influences on child development.
Required Qualifications
- AA degree in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development
- currently attending courses towards a BA degree
- California Children's Center Permit or a California Child Development Teacher Permit from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing
- Minimum of two (2) years paid experience working with children 0-5
- Bilingual (English-Spanish)
- Ability to speak, read and write English well enough to understand and be understood by others
- Ability to include parental input into goals for a child's development
- Ability to relate to diverse groups of people including low-income families
- Sensitive to the needs of others
- Maintain confidentiality
- Sincere commitment to providing services to children and the community
- Ability to assess and respond quickly to varied situations
- Must possess own vehicle
- current and valid California Driver's License
- at minimum, general liability automobile insurance
- LiveScan fingerprint clearance
- Mandatory pediatric first aid and CPR certificate
- Regular attendance, Monday thru Friday
- Must provide updated educational transcripts as required
- Must provide vaccination records for influenza, pertussis and measles
- Must pass a pre-employment Health Screening, including passing a physical examination
- verification of a T.B. clearance
- Drug screening
- Health Screening and T.B. clearance must be issued within six (6) months of employment
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds

Desired Qualifications
- BA degree preferred
- 6 infant/toddler units
- Experience working with Infant/toddlers
- Professional development plan until completion of BA
