Job Summary
The Early Head Start Teacher delivers infant/toddler curriculum across multiple classrooms as a substitute/floater, maintaining proper child/staff ratios and ensuring safety, well-being, and education in alignment with Head Start standards. Responsibilities include developing developmentally appropriate lesson plans with a co-teacher, implementing trauma-informed practices, supporting family goals through IFSP-guided activities, supervising classroom environments, and performing home visits and parent conferences. The role emphasizes collaboration with co-teachers and staff to adapt curricula for individual children, maintaining sanitation and nutrition protocols, and engaging families to support children’s learning and readiness. Required credentials include Infant and Toddler CDA (renewed/current) or an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, CPR/First Aid certification, bilingual English/Spanish desirable, vaccination documentation or accommodations, and a Texas driver’s license with liability insurance. This is a 10-month position (no June/July work) with travel between Head Start centers as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a current Infant and Toddler Child Development Associate credential required (Child Development Associate credential must be renewed and current during all phases of employment); or an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Development preferred.
- Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Previous educational classroom experience and able to utilize various learning techniques in the successful delivery of curricula.
- Fluent in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak) desirable.
