Job Summary
Oversee facility health and safety initiatives by enforcing regulatory procedures, conducting workplace inspections, and performing risk assessments for new and updated processes. Lead safety walks with teams and plant leadership, manage contractor inspections, and execute programmed audits while managing employee safety concerns. Perform weekly hazardous waste and stormwater inspections, sign waste manifests, and gather environmental data for reporting. Prepare and submit required safety reports monthly through annually, review chemical approvals, and track regulation changes. Lead the Safety Committee, coordinate safety training with Human Resources, and ensure accident investigations are completed with preventive action steps. Interface with local authorities, Fire, Police, and Medical facilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Safety or Environmental or other related field preferred
- 1-2 years of related experience is preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Results oriented
- Seeks continuous improvement with people, processes, and programs
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Continual education on new federal, state, and local regulations
- Must work in a safe and ethical manner at all times
- Regularly interfaces with local Fire, Police, and Medical facility officials
- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time
