Job Summary
Conduct Safety & Health education, communication, and training including new employee orientation, safety committee meetings, and alerts. Develop reports from systems like Origami and maintain employee records for certifications and training. Coordinate facility activities to comply with OSHA and enterprise regulations, driving readiness for internal and external audits. Perform self-assessment audits, document findings, and test service safety equipment while implementing engineering controls. Champion safety culture by working with employees and management to recognize and implement improvement ideas. Maintain local policies adhering to enterprise standards and ensure completion of health screenings such as hearing and hazmat physicals.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of OSHA standards
- Ability to effectively collaborate with Operations and be able to balance safety with business needs
- Excellent communication and computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Aptitude for technology
- Ability to work effectively with management as well as with associates from the floor
- Willingness to travel (<10% per year)
- Willingness to work occasionally outside of core hours
- Ability to frequently stand and walk around facility
- Associates degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Demonstrated engagement in safety activities preferred (e.g., safety committee member, first responder, etc.)
- Currently hold one or more of the following certifications, or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment if not in possession at the time of hire: NSC Advanced Safety Certificate, OSHA 30 Hour, and/or Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician Certification (OHST)
- Ability to gain certification to be considered an authorized person for specific OSHA service, maintenance, and inspection requirements
