EHS Specialist I - 1st Shift

Job Summary
Assist in maintaining health and safety and the environment across multiple buildings; support Process Safety Management where applicable and compliance with Hazardous and Universal Waste regulations; provide safety training (hazard communications, new employee safety orientation, lead awareness, hearing conservation, hazardous waste, fire extinguisher, CPR/first aid, bloodborne pathogens); track requirements for annual testing (audiograms, blood lead testing, industrial hygiene monitoring); enforce safety policies; assist with Energetics and Range safety; assist with radiation safety compliance; conduct safety inspections (fire extinguishers, eyewash, etc.); participate in Safety Committee meetings; ensure compliance with EHS programs and ISO procedures; assist with emergencies and evacuation protocols; procure PPE as needed; assist with Wastewater Treatment Plant compliance where applicable; participate in and sustain 5S standards; regular on-site attendance; may work overtime or alternate shifts; may work in other functional areas/facilities as needed; duties performed in a manufacturing environment with PPE requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in EH&S or related experience and/or training
- 0-2 years’ experience in environmental health and safety
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel emphasized)
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Ability to work in a demanding environment
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication
