Job Summary
Develop and manage safety programs consistent with Mercury standards and the Brunswick Safety Management System to ensure a compliant safety culture at the Brownsburg Plant 103 distribution center. Provide training to the hourly and salaried workforce, lead group activities including safety week events and workplace audits, and conduct job safety analyses and process risk assessments. Serve as the emergency response coordinator, investigate incidents to drive corrective actions, and manage workers' compensation claims for three locations. Coordinate periodic environmental program evaluations, manage hazardous waste compliance, and complete Tier II reports while partnering with site leadership and HR. This role requires 90% focus on safety/occupational health and 10% on environmental compliance, with 20% travel required.
Required Qualifications
- Visa Sponsorship: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
- Bachelor's degree in health and safety, engineering, environmental science, or a related field
- 5+ years' experience in safety, health, environmental role in a distribution or manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge, background and application of regulatory requirements (IOSHA, IEPA, FM Global, etc.)
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, verbal and writing communication skills
- Able to take direction, work independently and collaboratively
- High degree of flexibility, able to plan, prioritize and adjust methods as needed
- Travel required 20%

- Manage workers' compensation claims for three locations, including Fresno, CA and Suwannee, GA
- Provide EHS support to two additional locations, Fresno, CA and Suwannee, GA
- Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste for small quantity generators (SQG) EPA regulation
- Manage Spill Prevention, Control & Countermeasure (SPCC) and other compliance programs and sustainability initiatives
- Complete Tier II and other environmental reports
- Apply working knowledge of safety and environmental compliance requirements, including fall protection, dock safety, moving vehicles, ergonomics, chemical safety and hazardous material handling
- Conduct job safety analysis and process risk assessments
- Provide training on required topics to hourly and salaried workforce
- Lead and facilitate group activities, including organizing and hosting safety week activities, workplace audits, and other facility-based activities
- Ensure effective investigation of incidents, development of corrective actions, and communication of results utilizing corporate reporting platforms
- Partner closely with site leadership and Human Resources
- Coordinate periodic evaluation of facility environmental programs per Mercury and Brunswick EHS standards
- Manage the team's quarterly review cycle
- Provide leadership by developing, implementing and managing safety programs consistent with Mercury standards and Brunswick Safety Management System (SMS)
- Promote a team environment and increase team engagement in safety
- Assist management with long term planning related to safety activities and facility goals that drive business improvement and align with leadership objectives
- Identify emerging trends, critical process and system needs in support of action plans, measures and metrics for annual planning and budgeting processes
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of LSS principles and methodologies preferred
- OSHA VPP experience preferred but not required
