Job Summary
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of site EHS metrics and adapt global training programs. Develop onsite Emergency Response programs, maintain EHS documentation compliant with Swiss laws, and act as the point of contact for EHS matters and government officials. Promote work safety, facilitate periodic audits, and manage compliance with Abbott standards while incorporating duties of a Swiss SiBe. Report to the Director of Site Operations within a matrix environment. This role supports Safety and Environmental Management Systems at Thoratec's Zurich site, where life-saving heart pump systems are manufactured.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor/Master's degree in a Science or Engineering discipline
- Min. 3 years of experience in EHS Management
- Experience within Med-Tech or pharmaceutical industry
- Efficient hands-on project experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Structured, rigorous and analytical approach
- Excellent command of English
- German proficiency
- Able to work in a matrix environment with little supervision
- Act as the point of contact for EHS matters at Abbott Heart Failure's Zurich site
- Promote work safety on site and act as Spezialisten der Arbeitssicherheit (ASA)
- Incorporate duties of a Swiss SiBe (Sicherheitsbeauftragter)
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of site EHS metrics
- Develop and lead onsite Emergency Response programs
- Adapt and rollout global EHS training programs
- Ensure EHS documentation is accurate and compliant to internal standards and Swiss laws and regulations
- Act as the point of contact for EHS matters at Abbott Heart Failure's Zurich site
- Support Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Safety Management Systems, Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements
- Promote work safety on site and act as Spezialisten der Arbeitssicherheit (ASA)
- Facilitate periodic safety audits
- Organize and manage compliance with Abbott EHS standards via assessment of site programs and documents
- Work as a team player on a global EHS team
Desired Qualifications
- Professional certification preferred including Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), ISO14001 Lead Auditor
- Ideally in a global, American corporation
