EHS Manager

Job Summary

Conduct on-site inspections and surveys to identify hazardous conditions, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Manage workers' compensation programs, including premium controls and retroactive programs, while coordinating specialized safety training and toolbox talks. Lead a small team of EHS technicians, oversee facility safety goals, and compile statistical data to recommend corrective actions for accident prevention. Act as the primary point of contact for external agency investigations and coordinate with production leadership to mitigate physical concerns and enforce safety standards across two facilities.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or Environmental Sciences, or in a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience and/or training
  • knowledge or training in the following: occupational health, safety and environmental compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and standards
  • Demonstrated experience of successfully delivering hands on health, safety and environmental training
  • Ability to develop, implement, and coordinate comprehensive health and safety accident prevention programs and environmental regulations
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing workers compensation systems, policies, and cases including the capability to manage return to work, retroactive programs and Loss Prevention plans
  • Demonstrated ability in strategic planning for EHS improvements up to one to five years in the future as well as tactical abilities for day-to-day operations
  • Experience using software systems to analyze and communicate information, create reports, presentations, etc.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (presentations/report writing)
  • Ability to lead and direct teams and/or committees
  • Ability to work in a flexible manufacturing environment. Experience in Lean manufacturing techniques
  • Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint MS Forms, TEAMS and Power B.I)
  • Skilled in the standards, concepts, practices, and procedures within the health, safety and environmental fields
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations/decisions
  • Ability to work at all levels within and organization
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills/high EQ (Emotional Intelligence Quotient)
  • Public Speaking will be required to address large gatherings and trainings
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable
  • Must be a US Person and ITAR compliant as required by our Federal Contracts
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time (up to 10 hours)
  • Ability to move and/or lift 40 lbs
  • Ability to get underway with high-speed watercraft in variable weather conditions
