Job Summary
Manage environmental, health, and safety activities required by federal, state, provincial, and local government entities to ensure regulatory compliance. Provide training as required by company policy and regulatory authorities, while tracking performance and reporting improvement opportunities to top management. Manage and improve the facility's management system based on ISO 14001 and 45001 standards. Plan, implement, and coordinate programs to reduce occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and regulatory risk by identifying hazards and developing accident-prevention programs. Coordinate safety activities with unit managers, maintain liaison with outside organizations like fire departments, and conduct program evaluations. Participate in continuous improvement efforts and share skills with other employees.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 3-5 years related work experience
- 10 years related work experience
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple ongoing tasks
- Advanced understanding of all applicable local, state and federal regulations
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret all environmental, health and safety regulations
- High language and math skills
- Ability to function within a team environment
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills
- Ability to listen attentively and to communicate information clearly and effectively
- Ability to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds
- Proficient in internal and external networking
- Proficient in multiple software applications including, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other industry related software (SDS, Injury Management, etc.)
Desired Qualifications
- Active member of an EHS-related professional association
- Certified as an ASP/CSP/CHMM/CIH
- Active learner who demonstrates deep knowledge of EHS issues
