Job Summary
Lead the development and management of environmental health and safety programs for BD’s Global APM field-based associates and provide oversight to the APM R&D facility in Irvine, CA. Establish and manage safety policies, goals, programs, and training; oversee medical surveillance; conduct incident investigations; coordinate regulatory compliance and reporting; perform jobsite assessments to identify and correct unsafe conditions; partner with Vendor Credentialling for customer access requirements; maintain records and permits in compliance with applicable laws; and provide EH&S leadership with periodic policy and program reviews. Requires on-site presence with at least 4 in-office days per week and up to 10% travel; requires staying current with federal, state, and local regulations and applying risk assessment methodologies to improve workplace safety and environmental performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 8 years of experience in environmental health and safety management
- PSM – Process Safety Management Experience
- Extensive knowledge of EHS regulations, standard processes and EHS management systems
- Experience designing and implementing strategies/programs/processes that supports a business strategy
- Experience using Risk Management tools (including Risk Assessments, JSA’s, PPE Assessments, Ergonomic Assessments) and implementing corrective actions based on the Hierarchy of Controls
- Strongly prefer experience managing EHS Programs in hospital and lab settings
- Demonstrated understanding of federal, state, and local safety and environmental laws
- Demonstrated ability to influence and implement effective safety programs
- Effective communication and presentation skills including handling confidential information
- Understanding of Workers Compensation Claims Management
- Minimum 4 days in-office presence per week; travel up to 10% for field-based roles
