EHS/HS Bus & Classroom Aide

Job Summary
Assist teachers in lesson planning, educational activities, and recreational play within the Early Head Start or Head Start classroom. Help maintain a clean environment while supervising children during center operations, field trips, and playground time. Manage child transportation by assisting with bus runs, supervising students on the bus, and maintaining pickup/drop-off logs. Ensure safety measures for children boarding and exiting the bus, including seat belt checks and authorized adult verification. Conduct bus evacuation drills and document procedures in compliance with Federal/State policies and the Benodjenh Center Curriculum. Report promptly to the supervisor and maintain professional confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Ability to effectively communicate with children and adults in an appropriate manner
- Willingness to obtain a CPR/First Aid certification
- Ability to observe and evaluate children in a non-biased manner
- Willingness to obtain a CDA within first two years of hire
- Good physical health
- Ability to work openly and cooperatively in a team approach
- Willingness and ability to pass a background investigation and drug and alcohol urinalysis as a condition of employment
- Adherence to strict company policy in regard to confidentiality
Desired Qualifications
- Classroom experience with infants & toddlers and/or 3-5 year old children
- Willingness to learn and utilize Anishinaabe language in the classroom as well as on the bus
- Mathematical Skills commensurate with educational skills
