EHS Engineer - III

Job Summary

Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste through consolidation, labeling, inspection, and shipment coordination while ensuring local regulatory compliance. Conduct routine environmental and safety inspections covering storm water, SPCC, wastewater, and fire safety equipment. Participate in monthly safety walks, collect data into EHS software modules, and serve as a resource for work groups regarding safety questions. Assist in incident investigations, review job hazard analyses, and deliver training to in-field employees and contractors. Execute emergency response plans and follow up on corrective actions from safety audits. This role supports Blue Origin's mission to develop reusable space vehicles within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field
  • 3-5 years of industry-related experience
  • Must successfully complete RCRA and DOT training within six months of the position
  • Must be willing to obtain other certifications including forklift and First Aid/CPR/AED
  • Must be flexible and able to work all hours, including weekends and off shifts
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal laws/environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance
  • Self-starter and team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills that is able to build relationships with employees at all levels
  • Strong computer aptitude including the latest Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong self-management skills to keep on track with weekly and monthly tasks
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to pass a background check in order to obtain a Defense Biometric Identification Card
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired Qualifications

  • 5 years in aerospace industry or industrial operations
  • Knowledge of U.S. Space Force safety and environmental regulations
  • HAZMAT and/or emergency response team experience
