Job Summary
Conduct engineering-based hazard analyses including PHA, FMEA, and machine risk assessments to evaluate and design controls like ventilation systems and interlocks. Review new equipment, process changes, and capital projects for safety impacts, while leading root cause investigations using 8D/RCCA formats to recommend long-term engineering solutions. Analyze environmental and safety data to identify trends, publish KPIs, and develop system-level improvements that align with OSHA, EPA, and industry standards. Collaborate with operations, R&D, and maintenance teams to integrate EHS into project lifecycles and maintain compliance with regulatory licenses for wastewater, air quality, and hazardous materials.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Environmental, or related field)
- 5 years of experience in relevant field
- Strong understanding of engineering controls, risk assessment methodologies, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and develop technical solutions
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Working knowledge of using Statistics, ERP software, cloud database, and PowerBI
- Must be able to work in a group environment and be a self-starter
- Must be able to perform in noisy, moist, or wet, and hazardous materials environments with standard protection devices
- Must be able to handle necessary tools to perform tasks, including manual and mechanized material handling equipment for moving heavy loads through the production environment with little assistance
- Must be able to work in a controlled chemical environment
- Must pass Company required screening tests
- Must be able to regularly stand, reach with hands and arms, and frequently lifts, carry or otherwise move and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
Desired Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, WSO-CSE, CSHO, ASSE- ASC or FE/PE
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or high hazard environments and PSM
- Familiarity with process safety, industrial ventilation design, or environmental systems
- Total Quality Management/ Six Sigma
- Safety Management Techniques
- HAZMAT
- 6S Program methodology
- Regulatory compliance Experience with environmental laws such as RCRA, CWA, CAA, EPCRA, CERCLA, TSCA, state/local environmental codes, and permit conditions
