Job Summary
Conduct compliance inspections and environmental monitoring for asbestos, mold, and other hazardous materials during removal and abatement projects. Operate standard monitoring instruments to collect soil, water, air, and waste samples while maintaining chain of custody for all analytical data and project records. Manage subcontractor performance on-site and oversee client contractors during remediation activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and Chubb Global Risk Advisors' protocols. Prepare field logs, compliance monitoring reports, and sample data inventory tables, and interpret analytical results to support project integrity. Maintain required certifications, including State of Maryland Asbestos Inspector status, and participate in respiratory fitness programs. Perform strenuous physical activities and some travel is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an environmental science, health, engineering, or other scientific discipline
- 3+ years of work experience in a technical or scientific capacity, or equivalent experience in the environmental consulting field
- Appropriate technical certificates recognizing specific training or expertise in a discipline related to Chubb Global Risk Advisors' core services (asbestos and lead certifications for inspection and project monitoring)
- Current State of Maryland Asbestos Inspector
- Must be able to carry out sampling and data management tasks accurately and in accordance with standard procedures
- Must be able to learn and apply regulatory requirements in routine sampling tasks
- Must learn to operate and maintain standard monitoring instruments
- Must be able to work safely at all times
- Must be well organized with the ability to meet schedule commitments
- Must be able to make accurate field decisions to assure project integrity and cost-effectiveness
- Must be able to manage subcontractor tasks to assure successful project completion
- Must be capable of obtaining Health & Safety certification for hazardous waste (pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120) / asbestos (pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101)
- Must be able to perform strenuous physical activities
- Some travel is required
Desired Qualifications
- Current State of Maryland Asbestos Inspector highly preferred
