Job Summary
Provide athletic health care for home, non-varsity, and selected post-season contests on a schedule cooperatively determined with the athletic director. Establish daily hours for the athletic training room and develop comprehensive emergency action plans for specific facilities. Prevent and manage athletic injuries through protective taping, wrap design, and conditioning programs, while advising coaches on flexibility and strengthening strategies. Administer immediate care for injuries and supervise rehabilitation programs under physician direction, maintaining accurate medical records for all treatments and referrals. Coordinate with student athletes, coaches, parents, and physicians regarding injury prevention, treatment, and health-related issues including nutrition and substance abuse. Supervise athletic training student aides and conduct sports medicine workshops covering injury recognition, first aid, CPR, and blood-borne pathogens. Manage athletic training supply inventory and budgeting, and counsel athletes on equipment purchases and fittings.
Required Qualifications
- Certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATA BOC)
- Maintain the standards established by the NATA's role delineation study
- Member in good standing of the NATA
- Member in good standing of NATA District
- Member in good standing of the (State) Athletic Trainers Association
- State licensure and/or registration
