EHS Assurance Manager (Site Based)

Job Summary
Conduct independent assurance of the General Contractor's EHS management systems and performance across multiple project workstreams. Perform targeted inspections of high-risk works, verify compliance with client standards and statutory requirements, and review permit systems and safe systems of work. Identify non-conformances and critical risks, then escalate failures in a structured manner while analyzing trends to proactively address systemic issues. Produce weekly and monthly assurance reports for project leadership and contribute to governance reviews. This client-side assurance role operates within a £10 billion data centre campus in Northumberland, focusing on oversight rather than direct construction delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience in construction EHS management
- Experience auditing and assuring contractor performance
- Ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders
- Strong reporting, observation, and analytical capability
- Experience identifying trends, recurring failures, and emerging risk themes
- Deep understanding of high-risk construction activities
- Deep understanding of permit systems
- Deep understanding of safe systems of work
- Deep understanding of critical hazard controls
- Strong technical EHS knowledge
- Sound judgement
- Confidence to challenge, influence, and provide clear assurance reporting at project leadership level
