Job Summary
Direct all aspects of management for a nursing unit on a temporary basis, ensuring optimum patient care and stepping in as needed to support clinical staff in various settings. Develop, implement, and coordinate continuous quality and performance improvement initiatives while overseeing staff competence and regulatory compliance. Prepare and submit department budgets, monitor expenditures, and direct resource allocation through planning and statistical analysis. Develop short- and long-term goals, analyze departmental strengths and constraints, and establish policies in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Prepare staffing plans, review work schedules for round-the-clock coverage, and project staffing needs to fill vacant positions. Monitor nursing care patterns, initiate quality improvement procedures, and coordinate personalized, coordinated quality services responsive to changing healthcare trends.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Valid, active unencumbered nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board
- Five years of experience which includes three years of clinical nursing and 2 years of nursing leadership
- National certification in clinical specialty or nursing administration must be obtained within 12 months of hire
- BLS required
- Some assignments in this classification may require ACLS and Healthcare Provider certifications
