Job Summary
The EEG Technician is responsible for performing various EEG studies and ensuring accurate data acquisition, patient safety, and adherence to clinical standards. Duties include applying EEG electrodes, monitoring readings, performing activation procedures, and maintaining documentation. Candidates should have strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience working in clinical environments. A high school diploma and graduation from an accredited EEG program are required, along with preferred credentials such as Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG T.) and Basic Life Support certification.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited EEG or Neurodiagnostic Technology program
- Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG T.) or equivalent credential (ABRET), preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- 1+ years of EEG experience preferably in an acute care or outpatient setting
- Experience with long-term monitoring (LTM) or ICU EEG, preferred
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and EEG acquisition software, preferred
- Ability to recognize normal and abnormal EEG patterns (within scope)
