Job Summary
Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans to support a developmentally appropriate curriculum for infant, toddler, and preschool children. Supervise the classroom, Teacher Assistants, and all activities while ensuring the care and safety of every child. Conduct systematic observations and evaluations of each child according to the required schedule. Maintain classroom and equipment, and keep accurate records including attendance, medical, and food service logs. Engage parents as volunteers through conferences and maintain positive relationships. Post schedules, curriculum, and menus according to regulation. Participate in family nights, staff meetings, training, and YMCA special events. Perform additional duties as assigned by a supervisor to support the Child Care Department mission.
Required Qualifications
- Meets educational and experience qualifications established by DEEC, NAEYC, and QRIS
- At least 18 years of age
- Must obtain, and keep current, certification in CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred associate degree or evidence of enrollment in a college degree program
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred
- Previous experience with diverse populations
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is strongly preferred to support effective communication with all members of our community
