Job Summary
Conduct daily lesson and activity plans to support a developmentally appropriate curriculum under the supervision of the Supervising Lead Teacher. Supervise the children, classroom, and Teacher Assistants while ensuring care and safety, making systematic observations and evaluations of each child. Maintain classroom and equipment, post schedules and menus, and keep required program records including attendance, medical, and food service logs. Conduct parent conferences, engage parents as volunteers, and participate in family nights, staff meetings, and YMCA special events. This full-time role at Boroughs Family Branch requires NAEYC and DEEC certification, CPR/First Aid training, and proficiency in American Sign Language is strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Meets educational and experience qualifications established by DEEC, NAEYC, and QRIS
- At least 18 years of age
- Must obtain, and keep current, certification in CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities and curriculum
- Previous experience with diverse populations
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred associate degree or evidence of enrollment in a college degree program
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is strongly preferred to support effective communication with all members of our community
