Job Summary
Lead the classroom and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes social, cultural, educational, physical, and emotional growth under the supervision of a Supervising Lead Teacher. Design daily lesson plans, supervise children and Teacher Assistants, and conduct systematic observations and evaluations of each child. Maintain care and safety standards, manage classroom and equipment, and post schedules, curriculum, and menus according to regulation. Conduct parent conferences, engage parents as volunteers, and maintain required program records including attendance, medical, and food service logs. Attend family nights, staff meetings, and YMCA special events while upholding the organization's core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Required Qualifications
- Meets educational and experience qualifications established by DEEC, NAEYC, and QRIS.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Must obtain, and keep current, certification in CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities and curriculum.
- Previous experience with diverse populations.
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred associate degree or evidence of enrollment in a college degree program.
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is strongly preferred to support effective communication with all members of our community.
