Job Summary

Design and implement daily lesson and activity plans to support a developmentally appropriate curriculum promoting social, cultural, educational, physical, and emotional growth. Supervise the classroom, children, and Teacher Assistants while ensuring care and safety. Conduct systematic observations and evaluations of each child, maintain required program records including attendance and medical files, and post schedules, curriculum, and menus. Engage parents as volunteers through conferences and family nights. Maintain classroom and equipment under the supervision of the Supervising Lead Teacher. Adhere to NAEYC and DEEC standards, CPR/First Aid certifications, and YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Required Qualifications

  • Meets educational and experience qualifications established by DEEC, NAEYC, and QRIS
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Must obtain, and keep current, certification in CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities and curriculum
  • Previous experience with diverse populations
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds

Desired Qualifications

  • Preferred associate degree or evidence of enrollment in a college degree program
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is strongly preferred to support effective communication with all members of our community
