Job Summary
Develop and deliver an engaging curriculum aligned with accreditation standards for Surgical Technology and Surgical First Assist programs using lectures, labs, simulations, and clinical rotations. Facilitate student learning through effective communication, evaluate progress via written and practical assessments, and collaborate with preceptors to ensure a seamless experience. Participate in program development, maintain accurate student records, and serve as a resource on new policies, procedures, and healthcare information. Implement Evidence-Based Practice initiatives and travel throughout the service area to provide education in formal classrooms and on various units. Maintain relationships with all stakeholders while adjusting hours as needed to meet educational demands.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- Minimum (2) years of experience in a teaching environment
- Experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- De-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days)
- Appropriate level of de-escalation training
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Ability to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels
- Close visual and acuity
- Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus
- Ability to be active for extended periods of time without experiencing undue fatigue
- Keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities
- Superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
