Job Summary
The Educator I, Parenting & Community Education delivers the program model and will plan and implement in-home and community-based parent, family, and community education services in alignment with the Social Determinants of Health through a trauma-informed care lens. Responsibilities include explaining healthcare and human services concepts, developing and presenting prevention/education workshops, addressing community needs with cultural sensitivity, upholding professional ethics, and employing trauma-informed communication to support diverse populations. Must be able to transport materials to multiple locations and meet physical demands; requires high school diploma or GED with four years of relevant experience and possibly certification/licensure as applicable in Texas. Bilingual English/Spanish desirable; vaccination status proof may be required; a Texas driver’s license and liability insurance are also noted.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalency with four (4) years experience in social services or education required
- Experience in developing and presenting prevention and education workshops or programs is desirable
- Experience in understanding cultural differences and is sensitive to the implications of culture for service delivery
- Fluent in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak) desirable
- Certificate or license, as applicable, by the appropriate State agency as a qualified practitioner. Must maintain certification in at least one approved educational curricula required by agency stakeholder.
- State of Texas vehicle operator’s license and proof of liability insurance.
