Job Summary
In-home and community-based Educator 1 – Life Skills Educator role providing training to individuals with developmental disabilities to build daily living skills. Responsibilities include teaching in-home and in the community, following Individual Service Plan, covering areas such as toilet training, hygiene, grooming, travel training, and social skills; locating community resources; maintaining hours and records; submitting reports; and reporting suspected abuse or neglect. Requires experience with developmental disabilities, strong communication and problem-solving abilities, CPR/First Aid certification (or to complete within 30 days), ability to use creativity within the Service Plan, and minimum one year of relevant experience or education in the field. Work environment involves client homes and community settings (schools, stores, banks, DMV, etc.). Must pass Live Scan fingerprint background check and be eligible to work in the U.S. Employment may be part-time or full-time with immediate start, and compensation is $19.50-$21.50 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18+
- Car, Auto Insurance, Driver’s License
- Background check
- DMV report past 7 years for Educators transporting in Kern County
- CPR/First Aid certification or must complete within 30 days of hire
- Experience with Developmental Disabilities preferred
- Bilingual preferred but not required
- I-9 proof of eligibility to work in US
