Job Summary
Review and reinforce learning, introduce new content, and conduct one-on-one or small group instruction under teacher supervision. Assist in classroom management, prepare instructional materials, and supervise special projects while maintaining high ethical standards and confidentiality. Support students with personal care, special equipment use, and mainstream class activities as directed by teachers or assigned by the principal. Maintain classroom inventory, file student records, and report problems to supervisors. Participate in ongoing in-service training required for the specialty area of employment.
Required Qualifications
- Maine Department of Education Criminal History Record Check eligibility
- Maine Department of Education Educational Technician I, II or III Certificate eligibility
- High school diploma or GED
- At least two years of postsecondary education or a combination equivalent to 60 hours of approved study in an educationally related field; or for vocational education 2 years of paid applied employment within the field of assignment
- 3 years of postsecondary education or a combination equivalent to 90 hours of approved study in an educationally related field; or for vocational education 3 years of paid applied employment within the field of assignment
