Job Summary
Educate students individually or in small groups, including those on Individualized Education Plans (IEP), under the direction of supervising teachers. Provide assistance with programmed materials, group activities, and tutoring while monitoring supplementary work and independent study. Confer with teachers on classroom objectives, develop schedules, and manage students, including behavior observation, crisis intervention, and restraint procedures when necessary. Prepare classroom materials and environments, assist students with physical needs, and maintain housekeeping duties. Supervise children in hallways, lunchrooms, playgrounds, and during field trips; transport students in District vehicles when requested. Complete paperwork for third-party billing and maintain regular attendance.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or a general education development (GED) certificate
- Two (2) years of full-time employment or equivalent working with individuals in an environment that provides broad familiarity with an understanding of the physical and emotional behaviors and challenges of children with exceptional needs
- College training
- The successful completion of the ParaEducator Exam or ETS ParaPro Assessment prior to the date of hire
- Monday - Friday, no weekends and no holidays
