Educational Support Counselor (Bloomfield Academy)

Job Summary
Facilitate orderly transitions between residential programs, academies, and job sites while providing one-on-one academic assistance and teaching activities of daily living. Implement behavioral intervention plans, assist with IEPs and vocational training, and guide individuals in developing job skills and professional social behavior. Provide crisis intervention support using approved Physical/Psychological Management Training techniques and transport students to interviews and educational sites. Maintain accurate records in the Electronic Health Record system and foster a safe, structured learning environment. Work a 219-day schedule (37.5 hours/week) with flexibility for varied shifts, community-based travel, and overnight assignments.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, criminal justice, educational or a related human services field
- At least one year working with individuals with emotional, intellectual, or developmental disabilities
- Strong behavioral management skills with knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders and Behavioral Disorders
- Certification in PMT, CPR, First Aid, and Positive Behavioral Support
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, ASD, and behavior management techniques
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and maintain passenger endorsement
- Must be flexible to work across various educational, residential, and vocational settings as needed
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to be on feet for extended periods
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, evenings, and overnight shifts
