Job Summary
Support professional staff in meeting the needs of students eligible for special education by working as a team member in educational and social development. Assist in developing a positive environment, monitor instructional activities, and manage student behavior per established policies. Provide input on student academic progress, behavioral changes, and physical needs while fostering positive relationships with internal and external staff. Perform personal care duties, assist with transportation and building navigation, and handle clerical and housekeeping tasks. Monitor recess and lunch under supervision and participate in material preparation and team meetings. Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws, including the Pennsylvania School Code, and attend required in-services and training.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Certification as a Qualified Paraprofessional
- Ability and willingness to become a Qualified Paraprofessional within established timelines
- Training in CPR, First Aid, AED
- Full certification to actively participate in Safe Crisis Management (SCM) or other restraint management system
- Willingness and ability to utilize SCM or restraint management procedures
- Ability to lift/assist with lifting special needs children up to 40 lbs without assistance
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office
