Job Summary

Evaluate pupils suspected of needing special educational services as a member of a multidisciplinary team and maintain accurate case records for all clients. Interpret assessment findings and explain the educational assessment program to parents, teachers, principals, and community agency personnel. Assist teachers in designing and implementing behavioral interventions and provide inservice training on topics such as exceptional children and classroom management. Cooperate with parish professional staff and community agencies on matters relative to assessment and recommended interventions.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate, meeting the requirements listed in the Louisiana Standards for State certification of school personnel, Bulletin 746, Part Ill, IV, V, VI, VII, IX and X
  • Possess or be eligible for certification in the area of educational diagnostician or assessment teacher
  • Must be able to stand, walk, speak, hear and sometimes sit
  • Must be able to bend or twist at the neck more than the average person occasionally
  • Must be able to push or lift up to 50 lbs
  • Close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material
  • Ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to adhere to Lafourche Parish School Board employee dress code
  • Must be able to adhere to Board policies and procedures and administrative rules, guidelines, and regulations
  • Must be able to adhere to district guidelines relative to attendance
  • Must be able to regularly report to work on time
  • Must be able to work additional hours when deemed necessary
  • Must be able to adhere to ethical, legal and professional standards
  • Must be able to apply laws, policies, regulations, and procedures fairly, consistently, wisely, and compassionately
  • Must be able to follow directives as assigned by supervisor
  • Must be able to refrain from revealing confidential information
  • Must be able to use proper administrative procedures for making requests and resolving conflicts
