Job Summary
Implement the special education assessment process by selecting and administering formal and informal assessments to determine student eligibility. Collect and organize assessment data from cumulative folders, teachers, parents, and outside resources while conducting classroom observations and personal interviews. Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings to assist with interpretation of data, appropriate placement, and development of Individual Education Plans (IEP). Provide staff development training, consult with parents and teachers, and develop and coordinate the continuing evaluation of the assessment program. Maintain effective relationships with students and parents while compiling and filing all required reports and records.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in educational assessment
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- Valid Texas educational diagnostician certificate
- Knowledge of diagnostic procedures
- Knowledge of education of special education students
- Knowledge of human development
- Knowledge of learning theories
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Admission Review and Dismissal facilitation knowledge/skills
- Regular districtwide travel to multiple work locations as assigned
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
- Ability to moderate lifting and carrying
