Job Summary
Develop online training modules for transition professionals and parents, create student-facing interactive lessons, and build virtual resources for students with visual impairments and their support networks. Maintain a virtual mentorship program connecting students with postsecondary-educated adults with visual impairments and lead an advisory board of blind and low vision individuals. Contribute to monthly e-newsletter development, assist with data collection and evaluation, and provide feedback on team materials. Present at conferences and submit articles to disseminate project findings. Support the supervision of student and trainee work within the Department of Special Education at Vanderbilt University.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in special education, rehabilitation, or other disability-related field
- Professional and/or personal experience in the field of blindness/visual impairment
- Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple people as part of a collaborative team
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong writing skills
- Strong computer skills
- Interest in working with/supporting rural communities
Desired Qualifications
- Prior middle or high school teaching and/or administrative experience
- Prior experience delivering training or professional development
