Job Summary
Educational Assistant position in Los Alamos, NM supporting students aged 6-22 with disabilities under supervision of special education and related service staff. Responsibilities include providing intensive individualized interventions and personal care beyond typical peers (e.g., assist with transfers, diapering for ages 6-22 when needed, catheterization, tube feeding, safety and hygiene support), participating in ongoing specialized training, assisting with development and monitoring of Individualized Education Programs (IEP), supporting classroom activities in instructor absence, aiding with daily living skills and adaptive tasks, implementing behavioral interventions, ensuring student safety and well-being, and performing related instructional and clerical duties. Requires licensing per NM PED and a valid NM driver’s license; education is at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Salary estimate is $19.13/hour, 1.0 FTE, 7-hour day, August 4, 2026 to May 28, 2027.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Completion of the twelfth grade
- Possession of a valid New Mexico driver’s license
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, mandated Educational Assistant license and Substitute Teacher license as may be required by the District or State of New Mexico
- License or Certificate: Educational Assistant license or eligibility
- Licensure with NM PED is required for the position in New Mexico schools
