Job Summary
Support special education teachers by preparing instructional materials, maintaining classroom order, and supervising students inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty. Intervene in crisis situations as needed to manage disruptive behavior, while assisting with individual motor skills exercises and developing personal care plans for students with disabilities. Maintain administrative records, handle equipment inventory, and provide orientation to substitute teachers. Work under general supervision of the principal and certified teacher, adhering to strict confidentiality and professional conduct standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
- Must successfully pass MISD paraprofessional test
- Ability to work with children with disabilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Lifting (15-44 pounds)
- Carrying (15-44 pounds)
- I have physical limitations that prevent me from completing all phases of the Satori Alternative to Managing Aggression (SAMA) training
- I have physical limitations that prevent me from performing all phases of the (SAMA) containment
- I have physical limitations that prevent me from stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, pushing, and/or lifting
