Job Summary
Educational Assistant – Special Education supporting one or a few disabled pupils under the supervision of the special education teacher. Responsibilities include assisting with daily tasks, facilitating classroom activities, monitoring student safety, providing physical and emotional support, assisting with administrative duties (notebooks, assignments, tests), guiding students during routines, accompanying students on activities and field trips, and maintaining confidentiality. Requires teamwork, reliability, and ability to meet job requirements (pre-employment drug test, background check). Bilingual skills in English and Spanish preferred; CPR/First Aid knowledge and basic child-restraint capability are desirable.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- AA degree or Para Pro Exam
- Bilingual skills preferred (English and Spanish)
- Experience with or prior work in special education preferred
- Knowledge of student supervision and classroom support
- CPR and First Aid knowledge; ability to utilize child restraint if necessary
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and background check
- Ability to work in a district setting and adhere to district policies
- Must possess and utilize excellent team building skills
- Must accept delegated responsibilities willingly
