Job Summary
Assist in direct instruction for students with moderate, severe, or multiple handicaps, including Autism and ADHD, while implementing related service activities and behavioral intervention plans. Monitor classroom management, which may involve physical restraint, movement, lifting, and carrying of students. Prepare materials prescribed by licensed teachers and IEP requirements, and provide identified physical needs such as toileting, feeding, and therapy. Implement nursing protocols under supervision, including G-Tube feeding, suction, and tracheotomy care. Schedule is 6.5 hours per day on student days only. Candidates must hold Highly Qualified Para-Professional status, requiring an Associate's degree or passing the district paraprofessional assessment. Background checks and fingerprint screening are mandatory.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience with students with special needs including Autism, ADHD, and emotional support needs
- Highly Qualified Para-Professional status
- Ability to submit to and pass a background check and fingerprint screening
- Associate's degree or higher
- At least two years of college
- Pass the paraprofessional assessment (parapro test) within the probationary period
