Job Summary
Educational Assistant II supporting a classroom of students with special needs (including autism and emotional support needs) at Sauvie Island School for the 2026-27 year. Responsibilities include assisting direct instruction, monitoring classroom management including potential physical restraint, developing strategies to meet student needs and IEP/program expectations, preparing materials prescribed by licensed teachers, implementing behavioral intervention plans, providing for physical needs such as toileting/feeding/therapy/transport, and assisting with nursing protocols under RN supervision (may include G-Tube feeding, suction, tracheotomy care, and catheterization). Position requires background check and fingerprint screening; candidates must have Highly Qualified Para-Professional status and meet educational requirements (Associate's degree or higher or two years of college, or paraprofessional assessment). Calendar details indicate 3.75 hours per day, student days only; not benefits-eligible.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher or two years of college or paraprofessional assessment (parapro test) within probationary period
- Highly Qualified Para-Professional status
- Background check and fingerprint screening
- Experience with students with special needs including Autism and ADHD
- Ability to implement IEP requirements
- Ability to assist with nursing protocols under RN supervision
