Job Summary
Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher in physical education, art, theater, and music classrooms. Assist in preparing instructional materials, managing classroom activities, and administering objective testing instruments. Help maintain orderly classrooms, care for equipment, and keep administrative records while providing orientation to substitute teachers. Supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duties, and report on special needs or problems. Attend faculty meetings, serve on staff committees, and pursue professional development aligned with District goals. Ensure all interactions with students, personnel, and parents are supportive, courteous, and respectful while maintaining confidentiality and complying with District safety protocols and the Professional Code of Ethics.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
- Have met formal academic assessment, associate degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*
- Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate
- An associate degree, two years of study at an institute of higher learning or have met formal academic assessment Required by Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
- Experience working with children
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Ability to work well with children
- Skill in working with a variety of students in varied situations
- Ability to be self-motivated and self-directed
- Ability to read; understand and follow detailed written and verbal instructions
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in educational environment (preferred)
