Job Summary
The Education/Vocational Specialist will conduct intake assessments, develop educational plans, and coordinate enrollment or placement in school or vocational programs for youth in NSP, working with the treatment team to design holistic service plans, advocate with DOE/ACS, facilitate educational/vocational groups, coordinate with Passages Academy and other resources, and support youth and families in accessing special education services, internships, and post-secondary opportunities; requires a Bachelor’s degree, youth development experience, strong communication skills, NYS driver’s license, ability to travel, and a trauma-informed, strength-based approach.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required

- strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- experience with school system
- ability to set up a network of community resources
- must be able to make home visits and escort youth to school/appointments
- NYS driver’s license and willingness to assist with transportation
- ability to travel via public transportation
- commitment to strength-based, youth development and trauma-informed perspective
- advocacy for youth and families in interactions with DOE, ACS and external partners
- familiarity with Sanctuary Model tools and trauma-informed care
