Job Summary
Implement individualized education plans and daily lesson plans while providing academic assistance and behavioral support for an assigned student. Track progress on behavioral, academic, and social goals, and support the implementation of the Behavioral Intervention Plan within the classroom. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and clinicians to coordinate holistic development, communicate health concerns to Health Services, and assist with therapeutic and sensory interventions. Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment, manage equipment, and participate in field trips and team meetings focused on student progress. Support students during lunch and non-academic periods to encourage social interaction. This full-time, hourly position requires a valid driver's license, a calm demeanor in stressful situations, and the ability to implement approved physical intervention techniques.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must possess a valid Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record
- Ability to maintain a calm and effective demeanor in emergency and stressful situations
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver high-quality care
- Willingness to implement therapeutic strategies and physical intervention techniques as trained
- Ongoing participation in in-service training
Desired Qualifications
- Paraprofessional training
- 60 college credit hours
- Experience working with children or individuals with special needs
