Job Summary
Instructional/Supervisory and Media roles include assisting the classroom teacher with instructional tasks, supervising students in small and large groups, and providing resources to support instruction. The role covers direct student support (80% of time) and classroom support (15%), plus professional development (5%). Duties include direct student instruction, administering make-up tests, supporting individualized student education and behavior plans, assisting with technology use, supervising lunch/recess, collaborating with teachers, and supporting media-center operations such as cataloging, shelving, and maintaining media center software. Requires a High School diploma or equivalent, completion of Personal Care Assistance Training, and ability to pass the Paraeducator Assessment (with possible substitution by college coursework or ESP experience). Intermediate computer, keyboarding, and office skills are needed, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality and work both independently and in a team environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Complete Personal Care Assistance Training prior to working with students
- Ability to pass Paraeducator Assessment (may be substituted with completion of two years of college/AA degree or three years of experience as ESP with completion of required professional development)
- Previous experience in school/students preferred
