Job Summary
Conduct Applied Behavior Analysis with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, administering discrete trials and providing a hierarchy of prompting. Utilize incidental teaching opportunities to reinforce target behaviors while maintaining performance data. Collaborate with teachers and specialists to deliver a transdisciplinary instructional approach, employing augmentative/alternative communication methods and sensory diets. Manage behavior using established techniques, noting that toileting, diapering, and heavy lifting may be required. Report to the Building Principal or Program Manager within the Linden S.T.E.A.M Academy, a K-8 school in Malden Public Schools.
Required Qualifications
- Trained in understanding and utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Experience in administering discrete trials
- Experience providing a hierarchy of prompting
- Experience taking advantage of incidental teaching opportunities
- Experience dispensing reinforcement of target behaviors
- Experience keeping performance data
- Adept at working in a collaborative model with teachers and specialists in order to provide a transdisciplinary instructional approach
- Knowledge of augmentative/alternative communication methods
- Knowledge of sensory diets
- Knowledge of reinforcement schedules
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques
- Must be able to handle toileting/diapering
- Must be able to perform heavy lifting
