Job Summary
Develop and maintain IEPs, quarterly reports, and progress monitoring data for all student goals while conducting mandated IEP meetings. Make data-driven instructional decisions to improve outcomes by adapting lessons for individual special needs and assessing social and academic requirements. Serve as a liaison to Special Education Local Plan Areas and collaborate with school personnel, agencies, and community resources to modify programs. Instruct students with individualized special needs to develop academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills while managing behavior and directing instructional assistants. Prepare teaching materials, report incidents, and advise parents on student progress to support classroom goals.
Required Qualifications

- valid intern credential
- credential appropriate for the teaching assignment
- document issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) that authorizes instruction to English Learners (EL)
- Multiple or Single Subject Teaching Credential with English Learner Authorization
- CLAD/BCLAD Emphasis
- District Intern Credential with English Learner Authorization/BCLAD Emphasis
- Bilingual Cross-cultural Specialist Credential
- CLAD/BCLAD Certificate
- Three or more years of experience serving students with special needs
- Skills to motivate students
- Skills to communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds
- Skills to direct support personnel
- Skills to evaluate performance
- Skills to address student needs
- Knowledge of appropriate special education category (learning, severely, communication, visually, and/or physically handicapped)
- Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods
- Knowledge of state curriculum framework
- Knowledge of education code
- Knowledge of relevant laws
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
- Ability to perform a variety of specialized and responsible tasks
- Ability to maintain records
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and other school personnel
- Ability to meet scheduling deadlines
- Significant physical abilities including lifting/carrying

- Teaching Credential for the appropriate level of instruction and/or specialty area of special education

- Ability to hear and comprehend speech at normal volumes
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment
