Job Summary
Lead the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum's educational vision by designing, piloting, and evaluating high-quality programs including school tours, STEM labs, and digital offerings. Build and maintain partnerships with K–12 schools, STEM organizations, and community groups while representing the Museum at conferences. Support the education team by mentoring staff, recruiting and training docents, and developing professional development materials. Coordinate logistics for programs on museum grounds and submarine exhibits, ensuring compliance with safety requirements for shipboard environments and public gatherings. Collaborate with Marketing to promote educational offerings and create teacher resources. Bachelor's degree required with three years of progressive education experience and two years of supervisory roles.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Museum Studies, History, STEM field, or related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in education/instruction, including program design, training and facilitation
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience (staff and/or volunteers)
- Demonstrated success building K–12 and community partnerships
- Excellent project management, and organizational skills
- Confident public speaker and facilitator for audiences of varying ages and backgrounds
- Requires walking/standing for extended periods
- Ascending/descending ladders or steep stairs
- Navigating narrow passageways
- Lifting and carrying materials up to 25 lbs
- Working in varying temperatures/humidity
Desired Qualifications
- Experience designing STEM programs linked to engineering, navigation, acoustics, oceanography, or robotics
- Familiarity with U.S. Navy/Submarine Force history, maritime heritage, or military museums
- Experience with digital/hybrid learning, virtual field trips, or learning management platforms
- Bilingual proficiency relevant to local audiences
